PCM and telephons

OK, so I have a 2005 997 with PCM, including the gubbins for a SIM card etc. This implies it has the capability to act as a mobile once a SIM is added.

However, I believe that despite the physical attributes, this is not the case and the function needs "installing" at point of sale by Porsche. Is this the case?

If I want this enabled, would I need to go to Porsche or is it something a geek with a laptop can do?

Hi, all of the Porsche cars equipped with PCM (radio head unit) have got the SIM card drawer built in but NOT all have telephone module/wiring for it.

What happens if you press the TEL button..? I assume it says telephone not available? If so it has not got the module and not sure if they pre wired those cars or not.

Expensive retro fit.

the situation is as you describe: not available.

I expect the retro fit is expensive, although suspect it's probably already wired. I just have a hatred of buttons that don't work!

HI,

The Telephone module was about £200 but for the past 3 years it has not been available from Porsche. I tried to get one for my car when it was only 4 years old.
The response from Porsche was basically 'Tough SH*T'
