I see that the D70 (body only) has now fallen to £601.

That's £15 less than the best price I can see for an 8800.

How much further do you think this will go down (assuming we don't get another model or revision to knock it sideways)?

There's no replacement in sight; heck, the D70 was only launched in January!
But re pricing, they should be free to take away by Christmas. But all the months you wait for another £50 to come off, that's months you don't have it and can't use it for!!
Then again, unless you've got a collection of stonking 'D' lenses, you'd probably be better off getting the kit with 18-70 IMHO: it's a very good lens for the extra money, and gives you the wide-angle you otherwise lose with the 1.5x effect.

20mm/f2.8; 85mm/f1.8 as well as a non-D 180mm/f2.8 and a Tokina ATX 28-70/f2.8 - oh and a TC-16a

But then there's film and processing/scanning v a memory card to consider in the "£50 argument"!

I see you're a man who likes fast lenses!
You'll lose the super-wide angle but gain a '270mm' telephoto.

Just do it.....there's no looking back....makes taking pictures even more fun, knowing that its not costing you anymore in film and d&p.
Although I have since spent a fortune on bits to add on
