Guitar multi effects units
Discussion
Looking to get a cheap-ish guitar multi-fx unit - budget ~£100. It's only ever going to be for home use - no one in their right mind would ever come to hear me play
Thinking of the Boss ME-25 - gets mostly good reviews, and the downsides about it's suitability for gigging don't really apply.
Any thoughts or other ideas?

That Boss pedal will do the job fine, lots of options but a budget sound. You could prob get an older Boss or Zoom unit on eBay for peanuts, they sound cheap but would work fine for you. Do you use a computer/ipad at all?
Im a recording engineer by trade, im also a guitarist, whenever i play for fun/practise, I plug my guitar into the computer with a cheap interface and use either Peavey Valveworks or Guitar Rig as my amp, this gives almost unlimited effects possibilities along with every amp sound you could ever want.

I've had a few over the years, to be honest I didn't find any of them particularly brilliant. I use a Pocket Pod these days when I'm away in hotels.
From a bass perspective I'd agree with you - had a couple of multi-effects units and seem to always revert back to simplicity. The Pod has a great reputation though.IainT said:

Don't get me wrong, for what it is, the Pocket Pod is a decent bit of kit, and when I'm away from home and can't take a decent amp with me, it's a reasonable alternative. But at home I'm entirely happy just using my amp (Mesa Boogie 5:25 Express Plus), which can produce all the tone I require of it.
Thanks for all the input
I went with the Boss ME-25 in the end. The chap in the shop let me play with it for a while, then gave me a demo of what it can do in the hands of someone who knows how it works (and more importantly, can play the guitar properly!) It's certainly more than enough for someone of my meagre talents, that's for sure!
