White Noise

Stupid question, but are my speakers supposed to emit a low but very audible white noise? This static sound continues with the radio off/muted. This is on a 987.2S with “Sound Package Plus”.

I've seen some other posts link this to Xenon lights but this happens for me so long as the engine is on. Lights or no lights.

Based on the lack of "me too" responses I am going to assume that this isn't common and a trip to the OPC awaits for inspection and/or warranty replacement.

Hi sounds like alternator interference,may need to install a choke, or check as many earths as you can get to, take them off and clean up both cable eyelet and body.

Thanks for the response. I confirmed with the OPC that this is covered by my warranty so I'll take it in once I am off for a few days to ensure I get good use of a complimentary car.

So I finally got around to having the OPC at Wilmslow check this and they came back with a "known fault, nothing we can do" response.

Given that the car is under warranty there is something that they could do, namely fix it. They seemed very reluctant which I deemed strange because surely they are well remunerated for warranty work and are keen to wave it in?

Anyway, I'll go back to my original post and ask again, is it a known fault?
