I need to replace the OEM cable on my B&W P5s, as the iPod volume control is faulty. The OEM cable is pretty flimsy for such an expensive headphone so I've been trying to find a decent upgraded cable (not necessarily an audio upgrade, although that would be nice, I'm thinking more of a thickness/quality/connector sturdiness upgrade). However, there doesn't seem to be much available.

These days you can pretty much buy anything customised off the internet (trainers, clothes, phone cases etc) so I was surprised by how little is offered in terms of headphone cable customisation. Surely with everyone owning some sort of MP3 player/phone, and all the kids wearing Apple earbuds/Dre Beats headphones (which themselves come in different colours) there must be a market for cable customisation?

Does anyone know of a website where you can customise a headphone cable and then order it? I had in mind something that would let you choose:

Connector A type (1/4 inch male/ 1/4 inch female/3.5mm male/3.5mm female/2.5mm male/2.5mm female/3.5mm male 90 degrees/3.5mm female 90 degrees/2.5mm male 90 degrees/2.5mm female 90 degrees/30 PIN Apple/Lightning Apple/Mini USB/

Connector B type (as options above)

Cable thickness (2mm/3mm/etc)

Cable Sheath Material (rubber/braided/)

Cable Style (single round/single braided/ribbon cable/coiled)

Colour (black/white/transparent/red/pink etc)

iPod Volume Control (yes/no)

Microphone (yes/no)

Length (1m/2m/3m etc)

Then at the end you hit 'submit' - pay online and they build you the cable and ship it to you. But I can't find anything like that whatsoever. Am I being dim?

Thanks

Iain

Anything can be done, it will cost though.

Try shooting them an email and see what they would be willing to do.

Thanks, not really what I wanted though. I've ordered from the first link in the interim, but is there no website where you can build a cable for $20-$50 without paying through the nose (i.e. $400+) for a bloody headphone cable? confused
