Crank Removal

I'm looking for some advice on how to remove my SRAM crankset. I have removed the 10mm allen bolt, then the 8mm allen bolt but it is well stuck on.

I tried a plastic mallet but all that has managed to do is introduce play to the new bottom bracket

Am I missing something?

Can you get the non-drive arm off? What bottom bracket is it?

It's a BB30 bottom bracket

I've not tried to get the drive side off, I thought the non-drive side came off first, but then again I don't know much

I've only ever removed shimano cranks, this is my first SRAM job

The crankset is a SRAM S1000

I'm trying to remove it from my brothers new Zircon 1 as he is converting to 1x10. I'm converting my 3x10 to 2x10 using all of his parts off the new bike

Have you tried a crank removal tool?

Turns out it's a GXP bottom bracket not a BB30 like I thought it was

inside the crank is hollow, so there isn't anything for the crank tool to press against

Leave the 10mm one on, undo the 8mm, it pushes against the 10mm bit and removes the crank.

For anyone doing this in the future, the above is the answer

I had thought you take the 8mm out, then tighten the 10mm to push the crank off. This doesn't work, it rounds the 10mm bit and then you have to cut the crank off using an angle grinder.

It was still better than going down the local bike shop and paying them to do the work on a bike bought from the Internet
