Nice pictures!
Let's see if I can do some detective work based on this and your other posting.
You've been on holiday for 2 weeks and taken hundreds of photos, got well into photography and decided you want a nice shiny new digital SLR... And so have found a bargain and posted for advice?
These holidays can be expensive...
I did the exact same thing - only in my case I paid £300 for a camera whilst in america only to get back and wish desperately that I had spent a little more and got an SLR... Ho hum.

Truth is I can't afford a digital SLR and I don't think I could use it to it's potential.
Some great shots there
I disagree with your statement though,
I went Dslr when the 300D launched, it's cheaper now and is a cracking camera for the money.
The extra features the Dslr offers will expand YOUR potential and further improve your photos.
it's better to grow your talents than to restrict them

Agree with that - it's a good idea to get a camera which gives you 'growing room'. You can learn more and try out new things; or if not, leave it on Auto or P and you'll still get good results. A friend of mine has a Canon 10D and has never taken it off Auto - yet she stills sells a few pictures.
Me (about to borrow camera) 'How do you put the flash up?'
Her 'I don't know'

It has been my burning ambition to have a safari holiday for at least ten years now. What with moving to Spain, the motorcycle accident and 12 operations, a messy divorce and several other factors it hasn't happened. Was going to to ask lots of questions about going but decided to ask on GG instead. If you have any knowledge on travelling to/in Africa please see my post and answer.

Since buying this camera I find I am much more interested in photography. Had the camera 6 months now and over 2500 pics! The Canon (S1 iS) gives me enough flexibility to experiment a bit.
3 months ago I didn't know anything about apature sizes and shutter speeds.
I even know a little about focal length and using different focal points now.
Give it a year and I might progress.
Glad people like the pics of Kenya. The safari was amazing. I think we'll be saving for a trip to South Africa now.
