Please help me spend my money - need a fast fun car.
Discussion
Apologies, I never thought I'd be submitting a post like this, but I'm a bit stuck. Basically, I need some ideas because I suspect I'm missing a trick.
Situation: I'm in the lucky position of having a budget of about 8k (prefer to spend less obviously) for a 'toy'. I already have a diesel estate for mundane duties... Mrs R has her own car.
Not bothered about MPG as will do 4000 miles pa max, Insurance (being 40+ has it's advantages), number of seats. Would like a pre 2006 to avoid excessive tax if possible.
Will only be used for weekend fun - no long journeys. Will be kept outside.
Slightly bothered by bork factor - I want to enjoy it without worrying about every little knock and squeak. Don't like convertibles

BMW e39 M5
Subaru WRX
Still reading? Excellent, and thanks. Here's my thoughts so far:
RS6 - top end budget and not a lot left for considerable bork factor.
e39 M5 - already had one. Loved it but did get bitten by a vanos refurb and numerous bits and bobs so, again, bork factor & M tax.
Subaru WRX - already had one - enjoyed it and it's cheap to fix.... could pick up a half decent one for less than 4k.
350Z - need to drive one but quite like the looks (tho' a bit hair dresser?). Reliable? Probably.
645ci - love the looks but suspect it may be a bit soleless and also expensive to maintain.
Late 90's 911 - scraping the barrel - asking for trouble?
As said, I feel I'm missing something obvious so please - give me some ideas.
Disclaimer: it's been a long day, I've had a few beers so, grammar police... foxtrot oscar
