Probably a split rubber turbo hose (I know, turbos aren't made of rubber) check the one closest to the outlet of the turbo first. They tend to go on the lower ones that have oil sitting in them.
Just taken it to local garage, checked injectors they are ok,and now are unsure so need to strip down engine, shame have had new timming belt kit fitted recently.
Are you sure it's not a split hose? Really common on all the HDi Expert vans we've had. Hose pops, ecu tries to fuel based on throttle position and engine speed but the air flow if a fraction of what it should be.
The garage would be fools to not do a compression test of some sort before stripping it down. We have all suggested something other than an engine rebuild, so I would be going to another garage for a second opinion before condemning the engine to the scrap heap.
