Hi all, has anyone successfully claimed against the council for pothole damage? Just hit an absolute fking stonker of a hole here

It's wrecked a tyre (that was new on 28/12/13) and buckled the wheel

Excuse hand, had nothing else available for a depth scale laugh

Yes, you should get time & date stamped photos. Call the council ask for their insurers and claim against them. I did this for a wheel and tyre for my wife's Alfa in Buckinghamshire.

I had to email Highways@leeds.gov.uk

The response I got was...

Cheers for your help guys, will speak to the relevant authorities, it was literally just out of leeds district and into harrogate, so will have to deal with North Yorkshire county council frown

I know a couple of people who have tried to claim for repairs having hit a pot-hole, admittedly in other parts of the country. The council are only liable if it can be proven that they knew about the pot-hole beforehand, and did nothing about it. Beyond that, any payment tends to be voluntary.
