Gents,
Anyone tried any of these?
Anyone have a recommendation which one to buy? I have a small compressor in the shed that I would have thought is man enough or will the hand operated jobbys do?
Thanks

I got a one way valve thing from halfords a few months back and it's been fantastic. I've stuck the end through the top of a lucazade sport bottle cap so it doesn't fall out.

Easy one man bleeding for under a fiver!

Thanks mate.. I've been bleeding brakes for over 30 years but now I have no friends that own old or knackered cars who have any sympathy, or the inclination to sit in a cold garage listening to me saying, "up"........."down"......"up"........."down"....etc.
At 51 I'm old enough and rich enough to spend up to £25 on the right bit of kit.
Still young enough to be tightfisted though so will take your recommendation on board unless someone can persuade me otherwise!

I have a Gunson Easibleed which I've used a couple of times. Easier than finding a neighbour or waiting for my kids to grow tall enough to reach the brake pedal!

Gunson eazy bleed kit that uses air pressure from a spare Tyre I find works great when your on your own and need brakes or clutches bleeding.

I bought one of the hand pump Vacuum type bleeders before Christmas, and I can honestly say, a simple non return valve on the end of some clear pipe into a glass jar works just as well.

I've bought this hand pump kit. It works well and is easy to use as a 1 man job. I also have an eezibleed kit, but not all cars have compatible reservoir caps.

The benefit of the vacuum kit is that there is no faffing with having to attach a partially deflated tyre, then reinflate it.

Gunson Easibleed worked when I couldn't bleed a caliper with the old school. 2 hours of faffing then 5 minutes and job done.

Well worth the money IMHO.

Used an Eezibleed on our own cars for over 30 years. No complaints.
Be careful with concentric clutch slave cylinders though, some specify that they MUST NOT be pressure bled.

Another vote for Gunson.

Essential kit for the garage.

I've got a Gunson easi bleed and a Sealy vacuum bleeder. The Sealy is much better, I don't like the easi bleed over filling the master cylinder, then have to take some out afterwards.

I keep a large syringe with my eezi-bleed for that - it's the best balance of price and ease of use I've found so far.

That is what I normally do as well. But an easi bleed is £15 and the Sealy vacuum was only £20

either use a poundshop turkey baster to suck a bit out , or on the last wheel bleed it until the level is about right

Getting serious for a mo hehe

Be aware to bleed/ apply pressure in the same direction as real life operation.

Yes I know it sound daft, but even a momentary reverse in pressure/flow can unseat/disrupt system seals in anti lock modules/components.

Also remove abs pump fuse just in case it gets a supply.

Gunson kit is really good for the money it does the job. what more can you ask?.

Mo.

Thanks fellas. I have used a pressure based eezibleed thingy before but it blew brake fluid all over my freshly painted (classic) Mini bulkhead, AND I had a brand new reservoir cap AND I had surreptitiously reduced the recommended tyre pressure beforehand. This is why I'm interested in the vacuum options - it seems it doesn't really matter which system we use, the crucial thing is to get a really good seal around the bleed nipple and don't undo it too loosely or air will slip in and confuse the op!
I will give the non return valve-on-a-length-of-tube option a try tomorrow (Sunday) and if THAT doesn't work, order a Sealy johnny on Monday off've fleabay.

Another vote for gunison. If you are doing a full system bleed its a pain thought as he bottle is only like 400ml.
