Was chatting with Brendan (Concept Performance) the other day and we got onto the subject of
roofs and targa tops. After a while we started kicking around the idea of having a near invisible
transparent, fitted roof that you could take out to allow the benefits of a convertible, but
when it was in, you could have a great panoramic view out the top of your car.

Idea would be that you have two types of roof.

The first would be a CF one fitted to match the existing bodywork and colour which would
effectively be invisible from the outside, i.e. profile silhouette of the car would be the same
and only a faint line would show. This one you would pop in and out when you wanted a
convertible. Being CF would weigh very little and pop into the boot (roof bag or some sort of
holder).

The second one would be tinted transparent acrylic or similar resin which would obviously be
more visible and as it would effectively be tinted (or light reactive) you would see if. But the benefit
would be you as a driver/passenger would be able to have a nice view. yes

Might have a think about this one as it might be an interesting addition sometime.

Brendan did something similar to a Cerbera a couple of years ago and improved the design since.

Also, the roof could be returned to standard without too much effort if things did not work out.

Just an idea for chewing the cud on... whistle

Hey Alex, not sure on chopping about a Sag, especially one as stunning as yours but certainly sounds like an interesting concept.

I read your article in Sprint, a very good read. I like the LED tail lamps they look fantastic and a definite improvement on the original. The working bonnet vents are just beyond cool. As for the pedals, they are a work of art. I liked the idea of the tyre pressure monitoring system but wasn't so keen on the additional screen on the mirror, shame the readout cannot be integrated into the existing display between the dials.

I shall look forward to seeing you and hopefully the Sag at some point this year. thumbup

Hi Matt

Thanks for the comments biggrin

Hopefully, she'll be out to play in April. Running about a month behind on winter projects.

See you next time I pop over to an ME meet.

Cheers!

I'm half way there! I'd be very interested in a clear roof

I'm going to play with some ideas over the next few months and if it works, then I might consider it depending on cost.

Sealing the roof isn't an issue, it is just how much can "hack" out yikes

Low on the priority list though.

Obviously given mine is based on a Tuscan I'm half way there with the removable roof, I'd just need a clear version.
Who did you have in mind to fabricate?

Brendan from Concept Performance would be able to do it. I discussed it with him last week. Different context, but same idea.

He's a lot more willing to work with me on the "out-of-the-project/creative projects" than some other places I could mention.

You could also ask him about the side vents he's doing on my car as well. They look pretty cool on the Sag. biggrin

Won't post any pics here, but I'll send you some links of the work if you're interested and your email on PH is valid....

Sure. Will send.

Watching P1 on Top Gear tonight I saw that that a clear roof as well. Thought the shots
of it showing the scenary as it drove looked good.

Received, cheers.
I must say it's not a concept I thought would work but it looks very good.

Yes, I know what you mean. That is why I played with a few styles first to see what it would look like, but I think it works quite well.

It was the third attempt though to find a version that worked asethetically. I hope the real thing looks as good or better.
