Hi,
my cat recently learnt how to unlock the staywell 4 position cat flap and got out when she shouldn't have. End result, somehow got a broken leg and not recuperating. We want to replace the catflap with something more difficult to open and somebody recommended a catflap with a sliding panel that you can raise up and down to stop the cat going out when not allowed. I've googled and been to petsathome, but to no avail. Failing that, does anyone know of a catflap with a lock that's really difficult for my MENSA star cat?

Is your cat chipped? We've got a Sureflap. It only allows recognised cats through, we bought it because the neighbour's cat kept coming into the house. I mention it because the lock really couldn't be operated without opposable thumbs smile

thank you
yes, and she's under 1 year old, so should have the latest chip (I've heard that these flaps don't like certain chips)

We've got one of those installed a while ago. I then decided to lock the cat in or out (I forget which), so our beloved moggy just decided to break through Van Damme style.

It's now just a glorified hole in the door.

Well since the OP is claiming a Bruce Lee or Arnie cat, I think he's in a similar predicament. smile

We had a escapologist, managed to get out of a catery once as well. Cat flaps were no problem for him. So a bit of plywood and a chair to block it up so he could not get at it.

Edit. Ah, yes, perhaps the door it is is needed as well. Maybe not so good an idea.

My Siberian unlocked the cat flap after moving a baking tray pressed against the flap and held in place with 3 large bags of firewood. She's under 1 year old too!

We bought our cat flap from wilkos i forget the make but it has a removable panel that you can drop down between some guides to entirely block the flap and just lift it out when you want it open. Was only like a tenner or fifteen quid or something.
