Hi,

I've been trying to get in to COD: Ghosts. I'm grinding through and finding that I'm getting negative K/D most of the time.

Apart from the old addage of "learn the maps"

Is there any advice anyone can offer?

Be it weapons or perks just really after some hints to get more from the game as currently it feels like camp central and I'm sniper food.

Cheers,

T1b

All war is the same ergo -

The clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy's will to be imposed on him.
- Sun Tzu

The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy. To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. Thus the good fighter is able to secure himself against defeat, but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy.

Whoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted.

Cheers Toxic.

I'll stick with the Honey Badger and use sit rep. Has to be said IED's Are A Right Pain.

Also any game that has a top player do 30+ kills with 2 deaths I tend to leave. This game is way to hard to be doing that sort of k/d without a bit of cheating going on. frown

Many thanks,

Could be my broadband? Seems as soon as I happen against an opponent, he seems to have emptied a magazine in me before I've loosed a single round...

Try this class:

M27-IAR with Silencer and Tracker Sight
No lethal, tactical or seccondary
Perks:
Agility
Blind Eye
Dead Silence
Icog
Focus

Strike package whatever you want, maybe use support: Sat Com, Vests, maybe Oracle

Stop sprinting so much, aim down sights when you round coners. Use tracker sight to scan open areas.
This class feels like cheating, but you do still have to take care!

Tracker sight makes such a difference, it's like a super holographic site - it outlines your enemies in orange, which is really handy when scanning cover, you sometimes see a tiny of orange poking out and that is all you need to shoot to get a kill.

Do a speed test, what's your latency? or it could just be your reaction time, are you using a headset? I don't play COD but all fps games are the same, you will hear them before you see them.

Baryonyx will be along shortly to point out that it's because Infinity Ward (rather than Treyarch) made the game. In the meantime as someone who has always 'run and gunned' my way through the CoD series, it's easily the toughest. I only play the hardcore lobbies, either domination (KD 1.2) or Search and Rescue (KD 2.1) which is about as bad as I've been since before Modern Warfare. It's the campers in domination who, erm, dominate. Having said that, it's frustrating how many times the domination games are all positive KDs against all negative - and it seems to flip game on game, regardless of strength of team. It's like you can be on the wrong side of the connection (or whatever the problem is).

Search and Rescue is still a good game for rushing, although I'm a bit older and slower than when I first started. As has been said, stick with a gun, you'll get used to it. I use the Mtarx (or whatever it's called) with a speedy, yet silent, profile and SitRep which does make a big difference. I personally use a silencer and extended mags without a sight, my accuracy is pretty grim.

I was like this at first but I'm having a lot more success now. I do get the odd game like at the weekend where I got 7 kills to 16 deaths! I'm also getting scores like 29 kills to 9 deaths.

My advice for the small to medium maps is to pick a good assault weapon (I use the ARX 160) with grip attachment to reduce recoil and quick draw. I like the incog perk as it gives you an extra split second from being seen sometimes.

For the long maps, I find I'm terrible with a sniper so I use the IA-2 marksman rifle. All of the range of a sniper with most of the power. You often don't get a one hit one kill but unlike a sniper, you can fire multiple rounds with a quick trigger finger. It's been a revelation to me who has always struggled with snipers on all of the COD games. I regularly get 25 plus kills on Stonehaven with this weapon.

I tend to use IED's a lot as you're pretty much guarenteed to get 3 or 4 kills per game with a well placed one. I also get less angry about getting killed by them myself if I'm using them! biggrin

I find the best advice is to not camp but also not run around in the open too much. Try and stick to walls and cover when moving.

And also to tell us all how good Titanfall is going to be even though he's yet to play it. hehe

Try to make yourself as smaller target as you can by firing from behind obstacles etc. also try playing with a team with mics.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I don't think it's my broadband. I did have an issue which was resolved and was Regularly getting good kill streaks on BO2.

Half tempted to go back to BO2 but I'm sure I'd feel like I whimped out.

However, I've read some terrible things regarding LAG compensation. It's map dependant I'm sure. At the weekend there were times I'd got hits on target.

Cheers for all the info and tips!

Keep them coming! T1b

I quite like them sometimes, means I know where to go to get my kills biggrin

I played Stonehaven lsat night and as the game started, my whole team stayed where they were and 'waited'. I ran towards the castle alone. When I got there, 4 of the 6 enemy team members were lying waiting on the hill at the top! I got three of them before getting hit. I got the first 5 kills of my team before they realised that nobody was coming and tentatively moved towards the enemy camping postition! It was rediculous. You always get at least one camper per game but nearly all of both teams were at it! I switched lobbies at the end of the game.

To be fair (Dev's, I'm pointing at you), if ever there was a map that said "camp here!" It's Stonehaven.

Hate Campers but when a map positively encourages it, it's difficult to be more annoyed at the campers than the Dev's.

IMHO

My comment was tongue in cheek and aimed at the 3rd Chinese quote.

Fwiw head glitching is a sensible and legit technique IMO. Camping and waiting for enemy to arrive isn't.

Huh? I really don't understand why you think that? Not taking the piss but really don't understand. Using cover is a mainstay of the FPS genre.

Why would anyone not use cover/head glitch, by not doing so you're going to get killed a lot easier.

I agree that if someone is sat up a corner behind a box etc for most of the game then that can be annoying but if you're moving around the map and taking advantage of cover when firing then surely this is just common sense to make yourself a harder target to hit.

I'm sure navy seals etc use cover because it's common sense.
