Flat Battery has caused electrical problems
Discussion
Hoping someone can help here; just back from 5 weeks out of the UK and left the AM parked in the garage with the trickle charger on - or at least I thought it was (but someone knocked the extension lead out of the socket - O.H. has admitted liability)and when I tried to start it this morning the starter motor made a hell of racket like a machine gun being fired from under the bonnet. I called out Green Flag (other road side recovery firms are available!!)and they quickly determined it was a flat battery and duly jump started it. After he had left I noticed that there was a warning message saying that the alarm needed serviced and also the electrics for the driver seat were not working. Later in the day the warning message has now gone but driver seat is still not working - passenger seat is.
Any ideas how to rectify this?

If the battery has been left flat for even a short period of time, it's probably worth thinking about replacing it. Modern batteries don't like left flat and only last for 4-6 years.
Regards the seat you could try the seat reset routine. I'm surprised the windows didn't need reset as well.

So I am now trying to find the fuse box in the passenger footwell!!
Pulled back the carpet and there is an aluminium plate with 6 allen screws and foam on the floor - is it behind the plate or under the foam or somewhere else altogether?

Sorted - but here's the confusing bit. The fuse was OK and I also checked the passenger one too and both fine, then low and behold when I switched the car on the drivers seat is working again!! the folding wing mirrors was just a reset in the drivers menu options. - Thanks all for the quick help and advice.

If the battery started creating such issues, it's time to change it. It happened to me a few weeks ago. Changed the battery and everything works fine! Read here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
