Our car is just about giving up the ghost so I am in the market for a comfortable dog carrier. We do the odd foray into a muddy field so we are looking at a 4x4. Second hand prices for the Discovery 4 and Range Rover seem similar (about £20-25k for the models we are looking at). Is there a clear winner between them?

It really depends upon what you really want and you should take a test drive in both.

You won't find a more comfortable driving place than in a Range Rover.

There is much more usable space in a Discovery. You can configure the seats to suit you.

Both are excellent off roaders.

Assuming both have a high spec then the only real difference is with the size and space inside.

That said, I find my disco a lot firmer to drive than my mates RR.
The RR is like being in a boat and it makes me seasick - but it's old and might be knackered.
Other rr's might not be like this.
