D3 front diff question

A friends D3 is in the final stages of eating its front diff.
He's bought a low mileage D3 diff at the weekend after a 650 mile round trip to get it.

Now, there are different rations for tdv6 manual and auto diffs and for the V8.

So, does anyone know if there is a code stamped on the case that can be matched up to verify that the seller has given us a proper auto diff?

I know years ago, my freeby 1 ate its IRD unit and there were different codes for the td4 which I needed and the v6 which was originally supplied...
