Any recommendations on car rental for a few laps of The Ring?

Heading out there end May and looking at something along lines of Rent 4 Ring (stage 2 Suzuki Swift looks fun) but would welcome any input from PHers who have been there / done that. Likely to be a full day hire with 2 drivers.

I've used Rentracecar.de and Rent4Ring. Both were very good.

The thing I liked about rentracecar was that the owner provided a sighting lap of the track that morning so we could see the track conditions. With Rent4Ring Dale ran a thorough driver briefing clearly stating the risks and the financial implications of what happens if you have an incident.

Rent4Ring Stage 2 Swifts are amazing little cars. So sharp, so well prepared and maintained. Brilliant compant to deal with. They even make the briefing fun and its very informative.

here is Photo of me and 2 other friends in them at a DN event last year... hired them about 10 times now. They are just all you need at the Ring in my opinion. You can stick with pretty much anything for 70% of a lap!

I totally agree with the SSS2 recommendation form R4R. The only thing I would say is that the 888s are far from ideal if it's really wet.

Me last October :

I think that they mostly use Federal 595s now, which I found to be pretty good in the wet the last time I rented.

Cool. I got short changed then !! That was end of October 13. The day after a VLN too !!

I am back for more early May, hopefully in the dry, although the wet laps last longer!

You'll love it. Some friends and I booked out Stage 2 Swifts last May and had a fantastic time. They're quicker than you'd expect, thanks to a great track setup and decent motor. Dale and the team at R4R were a top notch bunch too. Enjoy!!

yes The power of the brakes and LHD combined to make it very difficult for me to do heel-and-toe downchanges. The brakes (and the rest of the car) were so awesome that I didn't care. biggrin

TBH, I have only had 2 sessions at the Ring so the VERY LAST thing for me too was worrying about H&T, lol. That would have been a distraction when I was still trying to figure out where the bloody track was going!!!

To update the thread for anyone else considering car hire out there - the stage 2 Swift was brilliant and would hire again from Rent4Ring without hesitation. Car was well set up (we even got RHD) and as a first timer, offered an ideal introduction the the madness that is The Green Hell!

I will never look at Swift's the same again!

What was your time? smile

Will probably consider one of these rentals next time I go to the Ring, the drive through France and Belgium was exceedingly boring.

Checked the insurance excess on the M3 - €20k!! yikes

I have rented Golf GTi, Megane R26R (bought one now), Twingo RS and a Swift and by far the most fun I had was the Swift.

It was just flat out all the way around, really surprising what it could do and what it could keep with.

As above, highly recommended.

Check out the YouTube clip of someone putting it in the fence (with some style).

He will be paying barrier costs on top of the 20k too.
