Edited to shorten the overly long post:
Picked up my S Austec, as always they did everything they said they would and the car was ready on time as promised. The post low loader wiring problem has been sorted I had new Xenon bulbs installed and the car spent another 3 hours on the rolling road being remapped again after all 8 injectors were cleaned.

The guys did as promised, and sent extra fuel down the pipes on overun The car pops and bangs 5 times more than before, spits fire like a dragon, but the bad news is the car is juddering kangaroo style. I have no choice but to take it back to get the it unmapped Not their fault, they did what I asked them to do. None of us expected this to happen etc

Everyone was there though, Mike was his usual cheery self, always a pleasue to do business with, Paul was ever helpful (it always starts to rain when Im leaving Austec) and removed my old alarm fixing, siliconed up the holes which were possibly the cause for the wet footwell, Im grateful for Mark too for doing his wizzardry remapping stuff and I also met Tim Lamont which was cool

My S lost some traction on a roundabout tonight, suprised me as Im not used to it happening, tend to take corners very slowly, I actually was going very slowly but wet and TVR's dont mix, we all know how it works. I will say though... Its good to learn where the limits are in the wet Especially when you have no idea where they are - Always a lot closer than you think!

And... I did my first donught tonight
Was well chuffed with myself It was fantastic!! I told my girlfriend we were about to do one, explained in a calming way what it was, and no sooner does the car start spinning she starts screaming, thinks the car is going to roll over or shoot forwards into a lampost (as she explained afterwards). She spent the next 5 minutes in tesco saying "How did you do that, why didnt we crash, how did you control the car" ...

I think she was impressed

All in all, on top of the 2.5k insurance premium thats raping my bank account monthly, Ive spent over 4k on the car since I purchased it mid July. I certainly didnt expect to spend this much, but its a good feeling (having been through hell enough times) to know that everything that can go wrong (touch wood) has, and that now the car has been fully properly sorted! Well, almost

Jesus Rob thats a lot, I thought my £1.3k for the Cerbera was bad!

Have you had any quotes for a Cerbera as yet, as at that level you could be paying £4k!!!

Dunno about the rain Podie, will have to think about that one... Incidentally, I'ts this Sunday I'll be in essex, but sadly wont be allowed out to play.

Tripps, Ive been quoted 1.3k for 98 cerbera 4.5 which beats the hell out of my current 0-NCB quote. I could get 2 cerberas for the price

Cheers Adi But its not good stuff... the car is kangarooing, got to have the pop and bang unmapped.

Joy says my car sounds louder than before (normal driving) its this possible/likely after the injectors have been cleaned or was she just in an optimistic frame of mind?

Bob,
I'm paying £400 and a bit to insure my V8S with PEART.
Got a quote from MANNINGS at Power & Passion for next April and they are coming in at £360'ish.

Suggest you give either of them a call!
(BTW, I'm an oldie at 50, clean licence and no accidents in last 5 years).

Its Bobs first car, which may explain the difference in premiums.

Yup, Chromozone is right, even if it wasn't my first car the different between 0 years NCD and 1 years is massive!

Another significant downshift in premium occurs after 1 years claim free experience is acrewed on a powerful car. I'll get both next year and will be much better off. Finally, for a quote anywhere near the 300-500 above, the S needs to be your second car with limited milage. Its my daily runner and Im not interested in limited mileage.

Ive mentioned it before, but 107 out of 109 companies (some contacted directly, some through brokers) declined me outright for insurance. I had 2 quotes to choose from, and went for the cheaper one with Sunninghill. The other was 3k

No one is excited about my donughts though so Im gonna start another thread on the subject

Good to see you're making the most of the car Bob .
Re the kangarooing, was it the over rich mixture on a light load/trailing throttle doing it . Great for pops and bangs bugger all use for driveability, been there myself .
You didn't mention the final power outcome of all the tweaking particulary pre and post injector clean. btw and out of interest what were the inj flow rates/balance before and after cleaning too {and how much.

Cost doesn't come into it Harry....

At present I would probably say... £24.73 per BANG and £2.67 per POP.

Podie had his cleaned IIRC they were 19 each...

£114 for us...

£152 for you....

Mine were 18 each, so £144 plus vat, plus 2 hours labour getting them in and out, so £244ish plus vat.

What do you mean dave, making the most of the car... or was that tongue in cheek re donughts?

I got no figures from Austec, the rollers were playing up and none could be offered pre nor post. Paul mentioned another rerun when they were fixed, whether they will charge for this Im not sure.

Im just going to sit on the fence. It was me who insisted the car be made to pop and bang, they followed my instructions as requested. It would have been nice if the test drive was longer for my sake though, the problem might have been diagnosed. Admitedly it was raining though...

Got another hours work to do before I finish for the day (whinge whine sympathy vote) and having to take the car back whether there is cost or not is more frustrating than anything, my free time is both prescious and scarse.

I followed a Chim most of the way to work this morning and he rumbled, popped and banged ....fantastic sound!

I managed to keep up ...just.... in my tin top as he was taking it easy around the bends and roundabouts which was where I caught him up each time that he slowed down. My poor TDi was flat out on the straights hitting the limiter at 4.5k revs on each change up. But ...I just had to hear that Chim, the owner must have thought I was mad chasing him up the dual carriageways!
