Fed up of never ending faults
Discussion
I bought a Skoda Superb a couple of years ago and in that time its been back to the dealership more times than I can remember (I think its 12 currently) for various faults ranging from the Nav wandering off by itself and taking an hour to get a lock (even with a full view of the sky and stationary), to the bolts in the wing mirror coming loose and requiring tightening (I would give it about a year before it would have fallen off).
I really do like the car and I have continued to try and be patient with Skoda over it but the faults just continue and the latest is that the keyless entry sometimes stops working so you have to unlock it with the key, not the end of the world but having paid £500 for the option I would like it to actually work. It has a 5 year warranty so 3 years left and although I keep taking it back to Skoda for all the faults, they fix some and don't fix others either because they are no good or because they cannot identify them.
But yesterday I was driving at night and went over a tiny bump (very small) and all the lights went out for just a moment before coming back on. I'm left wondering how many other things will go wrong with this car over the next three years? If the lights actually fail at night when I am driving, that's not going to be something I'm interested in having fixed, its just the 15th separate issue and I will want the car gone.
I've contacted VW finance (the car is on 0% finance over 2 years) and they said they would open a case and get back to me and never bothered to do either. I've spoken to Skoda UK who tell me I have to speak to the dealership I bought it from (East London, 2 hour drive each way) and everyone essentially kept fobbing me off as they have my money and the faults don't really matter to them.
I work 10-12 hours a day and I resent having to keep returning the car to dealerships for them to often not fix it. The stupid thing is, with 3 years of warranty left and at the rate of failure, its going to cost them a lot of money to keep fixing this car.
Has anyone been in this situation? The 'lesson learnt' for the future is as soon as the car plays up, reject it. Its stupid to say but in the future, I won't give dealers any more chance than I legally have to in order to resolve an issue. Now they have dragged this on for two years promising to resolve all issues, I cannot imagine I can reject it anymore and instead will take a huge loss on selling it on.
