Got a 4/5 month old E350 CDI W212. The start/stop and hold feature have stopped working.

No error messages on the dash or lights coming on so not sure whats up.

Has anyone experienced this before or know what the issue could be?

Cheers

Don't quote me on this but I've heard of a couple of people with this problem & they've had new torque converters fitted to rectify the fault.

frown was hoping it would be something simple as the ECO always stays yellow and doesn't go green.

It has been smelling a bit like burning rubber/sticking brakes recently now I think of it.

My ECO light is mostly yellow therefore disabling the stop start function, though I put this down a lowish battery.

I only use the car about once a week so assumed it was just that the battery was not fully charged. It does eventually turn green after a run of around an hour or so, but then I don't need it as I'm stopping anyway.

Conditions to be met for Stop/Start to work from the (US) manual: -

The indicator lamp in the ECO button is lit green
The vehicle is stationary.
The outside temperature is within the comfort range
The engine is at normal operating temperature.
The set temperature for the vehicle interior has been reached.
The battery is sufficiently charged.
The system detects that the windshield is not fogged up when the air-conditioning system is switched on
The hood is closed.
The driver's door is closed and the driver's seat belt is fastened.

As for the hold function, mine works straight from cold, so possibly a separate issue on yours?

Mine is an E63 if that's relevant?

Cheers for that list, it's quite strange to be honest as from what I can see it meets all required criteria.

FWIW the car does circa 180 miles of motorway most days so it is definitely up to temp and the battery should have plenty charge.
