Mondeo egr blanking off
Discussion
Hi. New to the forum so hope this has not been done to death already.
Mondoe 2L tdci I 85kw . 55 plate.
Car has been smoking an awfull lot lately and has been stuttering on acceleration.
Got to a point 2 days ago where I had to get it too 3000rpm to pull away as if it's trying to pull away in 3rd gear.
Once running it had no power .
Driving to the garage it would one minute be fine but then try and die once more.
Changed fuel and air filter but no good.
After blanking off egr it's now running better than ever.
Problem is I have been told that blanking the egr could damage the turbo at any time.
I have also read that you can't should not blank the euro4 egr which i presume mine is as it has an electrical switch to it.
Any thoughts appreciated .

Blanked EGR on both of my Tdci Mondeos and made a big improvement to driveability.
Never heard of any turbo problems as a result.
Also worthwhile unbolting inlet manifold and cleaning out(pretty straightforward job) as they get badly coated in sludge. Guides available on Talkford forum. One of the first things I done on mine and makes the car run a lot smoother.

Your EML will come on in a few hundred miles. You can just ignore it or apparently get a blanking plate with a small hole in the middle. Eventually you may need a new EGR, £150 from Jaguar.Mondoe 2L tdci I 85kw . 55 plate.

Clear the manifold out as well and get that level of improvement all over again!
