991 PTS?

Does anyone know (not guessing ) how long PTS is currently delaying production on the 991?

I realise some colours have to be tested before approval but if the colour is approved, how long is it adding to build times?

Not a guess really but it delayed my 997.2 RS from April to Sept 2010. Eventually I was told they built all the Grey/White/Blue ones first and then did all the PTS together. Can't really see why !

In order to do pts they needi to stop the main production line as the paint sprayers need to be flushed after every pts car. It is expensive to do this so they only do in batches. The delay in order to car will depend on how close you are to a free slot on a pts batch.

Carl, why would they flush them after every PTS and not for standard colours ?

Speculating, the machines have different spray heads for the standard colours and one for PTS. Same for the hand finishing part. I would imagine that if you have say 50 PTS cars in one batch, most of them will be different, a very tough challenge for what is a highly automated facility.

tried to do PTs, 3 times......always delay's....much better in my expernace to go with the interior, I had met blue, 996ttx50, with full champagne leather, 89, BMW M5 colour.....
