Fall out of the sky apparently... Something to do with the ECM suite interfering with the Airbus fly by wire system perhaps?

Comments on BFBS social media suggest that people were thrown into the air due to the sharp descent.

ETA accounts also suggest that it felt like it was falling out of the sky.

A decent acceleration of 32ft/s would be enough to experience 0g which if sustained for 1 second would be the rough speed at which a 2000ft/s descent is made at

? 32ft/s isn't an acceleration, it's a speed. If you meant 32ft/s2 then if you sustained it for 1 second you would be descending at 32 ft/s - how do you get 2000 ft/s?

The Sun newspaper did a little piece of sensationalism reporting on the incident. The cut out made it onto our wall of idiotic news articles. My mate who works on them is still chortling to himself over their speculative story and the 'insider source'.

sorry i wasn't with it when i wrote that, basically i was saying to get 0g then an acceleration of 32ft/s2 for one second and then maintained that descent rate you would be descending at ~2000ft/min, that would be enough to throw people into the air whilst comparatively not being a massive descent speed.

Yes, embarrassing indeed! A mate of mine was on that flight, claiming that dive and weightlessness with people hitting the roof of the jet was the scariest thing he's experienced! Everyone thought it was an aircraft fault - I shall have to let him know it was the pilot's camera getting jammed on the flight stick forcing it into a dive!

Every Airbus pilot will at some point (if they haven't - they will), hit the sticks autopilot disconnect button with a knee/hand at some point in their career. Do it properly and you can give the other driver a right good scare

A stuck camera and people bouncing around? That's got to be a first. Top job!
