My Edition 30 GTI
Discussion
Quick car history,
Mk 3 fiesta 1.1i lx fine to get me to and from college. Being a 11 year old for need lots of work to pass an MOT, which I could not afford too, but at the same time the local Vauxhall dealer had a 0% for 5 years on second hand under 2 years old Corsa’s. I end up with a 1.0 3door design. It end up looking like this.

I had this just over 2 years before insurance was no longer the limiting factor in which cars I could afford to buy. I was after a small hot hatch, I choose a Mk5 fiesta Zetec S. This was Friday afternoon car, in 18 months, I replaced engine, Gearbox, brakes, 3 heater control values, headlights after self-levelling motor broke and all the audio. I choose against replacing all the suspension. But for 5 minutes on a flowing B road it was working correctly I was brilliant fun.

I had changed my job again and need a larger boot as I was doing more site visits but still need to fun so a Astra Sport hatch was the answer on was found with the engine and body spec, I pickup a 3 month old ex demo with 3,000 mile on clock for 9k under brand new price.

I keep this for just over 2 year and got bored with it as it was not, fun, fast enough after getting a TDI Seat Exeo as hire car after a non-fault accident. I knew I need a petrol turbo in my life, so I had a choice of three in mind, Focus ST, Seat Leon FR and Mk6 GTI/ special edition MK5 GTI. Trip to the VW showroom and there was a Black Pirelli Mk5 GTI, out because of the interior was not right for me, this left a Red DSG and a White Manual. The Red was 3 door and White was 5 door. The driving I do is mainly short trips to the office so the DSG was rule out.
As I picked up from the dealer in June 2012, Full Miltek exhaust from the cat back, with 4 exhaust tips the noise from this system is slightly louder but more raspy than standard.

November 2012, I noticed there were holes in the torque curve and poorly fitted exhaust meant a trip to AMD Woking to get both fixed. Before the car pulled ok from 1500 to 2500 then when flat between 2500 and 3000 then took off and the MPG was shocking. AMD found a DSG map self-written on the car. This was removed and Stage 2 map was put on upping the BHP to 270 – 280 from 230. Now the car pulled strong the whole way through the rev range.
October 2013, the standard panel filter was changed for an ITG Maxogen kit was fitted.
There is further work planned includes,
Make custom engine cover
Upgrade the brakes
Some of the event I have been to with it.
