Quick advice, which inline fuel filter?

Hoping to order one tonight as I need it quick

1969 V8 289 Mustang.

currently with no fuel filter whatsoever!!! so I need to put one on there. does the brand/type matter?

or do I have to worry about flow rate? the size (5/16) is correct

Flow rate shouldn't be an issue, whilst the element remains clean. But I would not reccomend using a glass filter case as I would be worried about the consequences of any accidental contact breaking the glass.

why not just install a plastic disposable type fuel filter ans replace it at annual service, less f*rting about

I wouldn't buy a plastic one - they're not great at sealing properly and you don't want that if over a hot engine - use a metal one. I have one of these ... 66 Mustang.

that's not my experience or as I know from others, in fact the only fuel filter I've ever leak was a new metal one

I've been using plastic disposable fuel filters on classics for the last 20+ years without the slightest hint of problems, for more years than I can remember I've been using the less expensive Mann plastic fuel filters

Just repeating the experiences of myself and other classic owners I know who have had them leak (over time)

fair enough but were they changed each year - not that all are changed each year even when they should be, some I've seen I'd guess by the state of them might have been on a good few years but still no reports of leaking

I know of many p*ss poorly made modern parts for classics but disposable plastic in-line fuel filters I've not heard of until now, I'd suggest you change supplier/manufacturer

as I put I've used Mann for many years, two different sizes, and those supplied by MGOC Spares without any problems, changing at annual services (I've got three 'in stock' at the moment)

Plastic clear inline (large size for the 4 barrel carb) will do the job perfect... You don't need any fancy types...end of story.
