Do a disproportionally high number of obese people by small cars?

I seem to notice a lot of chunkies driving small cars, appearing to look like an inflatable beach toy that been blown up inside a small hatch.

Why is it?

hehe I suspect you just notice them more when the lard is being squeezed out of the windows of a small car rather than flapping around inside a larger one.

Yes, I think that might be the case, if a fatty has been swallowed up inside a big old barge it doesn't show so much.

Fat = Lazy, therefore they can only afford small cars, but usually mobility scooters supplied by the state ;-)

Motobility scheme not allowing them to buy such big cars any more, or taking a smaller car to afford more pies? But I suspect it's more a case of they happen to be a lot more noticeable in a small car.

A larger person will seem bigger in relation to the vehicle they travel in, I have a photo of myself (16 stone/6ft) in our old school Fiat 500 which makes me look bigger than I am.

Also, demographics wise, it is well known that lower down the socio-economic scale weight rises along with health issues (my own spare 2 stone is obviously down to rich, game laden meals, port and other high living). Poorer people tend to fill up on stuff that is cheap and satisfying and that becomes the normal, 2 Apples are a quid, for 90 pence you can get 5 Doughnuts.

So, cheap food and having to have a cheaper more economical car, coupled with the relaives sizes could explain this.

It's just because all their money goes on stuffing their faces, or Motability have given them a cheap little car to go along with their free scooter, the fat lazy fks.

Hmm, all getting a bit Daily Mail in here, assuming everyone who is overweight is some kind of benefits sponsored competetive eater !

Ok, think there may be an element of truth in some cases but its a bit OTT.

It's probably because more and more people are getting fat.

Cars are getting bigger too, a supermini today is the size of a small family car 20 years ago. People used to have Mini's as their family cars, I couldn't see a family fitting in today's mini with their bulging waistlines.

I'm not perfect, I am carrying a stone too much for my height.

Really fat people are generally stupid. Stupid people have low paid jobs or no job. Low paid job / no job means no money for big cars.

You're welcome.

Fat = lazy - tend to agree with this.
Just more noticeable in small cars, it is funny to see them squashed up though.

The UK is all a bit of a piss take mind regards weight / food / poverty. On one hand you have the lot that claim those with council houses & on the dole etc can't afford to feed themselves and need food banks then outside the food bank when the news does some interviews you invariably get fatty on a mobility scooter saying how hard life if while tugging on a fag :-D on the way back from bingo.

This, along with mobility not allowing you to have a big car.
