I am familiar with the holes in the inner sill that let in air but for some reason, with the window open 20-50mm I get a very strong air flow underneath the door pocket/door seal, up towards the driver but nothing at all when the window is shut. The air isnt flowing downwards but up-wards from all around the rubber door seal.

Any ideas please? Thanks in advance

Are you certain it isn't coming in from in front of the driver's door? There is a ventilation hole under the carpet on the side of the footwell.
The other possible is if there is a hole around the seat belt mount. Normally siliconed in.

Gets my vote. Hold the carpet tight against the wall of the car and the draft dissapears.

I get this from where the door seal is pinched front and back. This is done to allow water to drain out, rather than end up in the cabin.

100% certain it isn't the holes in the inner sill. I have been there before with those and know about them. It's bizarre. Driving along the motorway today and with the window open there is a very real draft coming up from under the door arm rest by the door seal, close the window and it disappears.

It's like a pressure related draft, which I struggle to believe.

I've always had that on all my Chimaeras. I just shrugged it of as being one of those things. (It's really noticeable in shorts hehe)

Could this let in moisture?

It's the first I've heard about a ventilation hole down in the footwell but even after the recent monsoons, the only damp I'm getting inside is the carpet on the o/s of the driver's footwell. The carpet on the edge there is quite wet, along with the carpet edge directly under the pedals. Yes, I have driven in in the damp, but not recently.

N.B. Everywhere else is still dry which is a bonus really!

There's a chance that that is a leak around the brake fluid reservoir. Check the mastic there is intact.

That's usually accompanied by a gallon on water slooshing around in the footwell

I had this when the door seal just above this area got detached from the door frame. When I simply pushed it back on, the dampness went away.
