Despite the fact that huge numbers of Mercedes, BMWs and Audis are now on PCP where the colour is irrelevant to resale as the car is being returned, you still don't see much variety in the chosen hues. We are told people pick silver/grey/titanium as its easier to resell but as these "Hire" cars are largely that colour, could it be that customers actually like grey? My Mercedes is Palladium silver by the way :-)

Do lease prices not vary depending on colour then?

I think silver, grey and black have probably always been the most popular colour in terms of what people actually like; just not quite by the extent that the predominate in terms of actual sales.

I could have had any standard colour for the same price, in fact palladium silver was a bit more as it was an option.

Some people just like boring colours. They don't look so bad dirty for a start.

I went for metallic orange on my lease car because I like it, I could, and I don't need to care about resale.

Resale colours are resale colours as that is what most people prefer Q.E.D

If most people wanted green cars, if you wanted to make your life easier at sale time, you would buy a green car, making is resale green.

I was in a local M-B dealership recently, and they had all the different paint sample squares, for all models, on the wall. I counted 46 different shades of grey available across the model range. 4 more and they could write a dirty book.

I'd have it in that yellow any day. I'd have that Aston from Harris' review in that yellow as well. Cars like that need to be colourful.

Cats on PCP tend to be company cars. Different colours tend to be options. Options cost money, that option then counts against the BIK, so that option then costs more money. So why take that option?

I'm not so sure that cars on PCP do tend to be company cars. Mine isn't and nor are those I know of. They are all private and yet all silvery grey.

There's a MB Service garage on the estate and they all seem to be silver with the ocassional excitement of one being....black!

The company director has two MBs after his recent C63 aquisition. One is silver, the other is black.

I miss red cars. There's not enough red on the roads. Or yellow.

I pick a colour that suits the car best regardless of how I fund it? This ranges from silver BMWs and black Mercedes all the way through to Spectraflare TVR's and lime green Focus'

Choosing a colour you like isn't boring, In fact if I was to order a new Hurracan tomorrow, it would be grey or silver, if I was to get a LP640 or LP700 that would be grey as well in fact:

Some colours suit cars better than others.

I used to have a 60's Porsche in Burgundy it looked great, it seems Porsche still do it as not so long ago I saw a Cayenne in the same colour, it looked gash. It's very hard to tell sometimes on a small scrap of paper what a whole car will look like.

I do think Lambo's should be in garish colours but those two look pretty good. I like bright colours but there is often little choice among the sea of grey/silver.
