Brake light on drivers side stopped working and bulbs ok. Guessing it's an earth issue but can't see where the earth point is?

I have had filaments in the past that would pass a multimeter test but not work in situ.

To double check, swap them over and see if the fault switches sides.

The entire cluster works on one earth, if it was an earth issue away from the light cluster then it would quite possibly effect all of the lights in that cluster. I know this is from a transit, but it gives you an idea. See how the centre is a continuous sheet of metal that goes to a single pin at the bottom, that's the earth, all of the separate pins are the lives.

If just the brake light isn't working then it is probably the live for that side, either the wire in the loom (it will be linked to the light on the other side, the other side is still working because it is first in the series on the loom so the fault is between the two lights), a crap connection between the pin and plug or the metal in the cluster is broken.

Check the plug to lamp cluster multi-plug terminals if you see corrosion on the pins you found your problem wink
