Not content with calling the new 1 coupe the 2, BMW have added another random model to their line up. I think it's a take on for the Merc b class and ford c max since it looks like a mash up of the 2.


Here is the 2 series active tourer, what ever that means ...



And yep it's FWD with a 3 cylinder engine. It's basically a posh Dacia duster

Its a little bit bigger than the A, almost identical size to a B-Class. Why they chose 2 and not 1 is weird, considering the 2 is the coupe...

Someone like Merc can do cars like that but for BMW it's just that stretch too far. I presume their argument would be that for any given (sub)segment they will produce the car with class leading handling. That thing just isn't what comes to mind when you think 'Ultimate Driving Machine'.

I love BMW but, really, there are limits (and this, the 3 and 5 "GTs" and the X6 are a step too far).

Still, anything Mercedes can do.....

Surely a people carrier has to have more than 5 seats - this looks like it only has 4 1/2, maybe 4 2/3, but it certainly doesn't look like a full middle seat in the back.

That was my first thought. I can only assume the styling department at BMW are from some other planet, or are paid in severely mind altering drugs instead of money.

For quite a long time now there have been 2 companied operating out of the 4 cylinder building in Munich.
One is called BMW, they make the 1,3,5,6,7 series cars, and are also known to have a few subsiduaries.
M-GMBH and BMW Motorrad are well documented, as are Rolls Royce and Mini. However for some time now there has been another covert subsiduary company, confusingly also called BMW who go through the bins every night and actually build what BMW's designers throw away; like some sort of irradiated fked up Wombles they take other peoples rubbish and inflict it on the masses.

Don't buy a fked up Womble subsiduary BMW, buy the real thing. It looks like a fast 3 box saloon.
