So...

My it's time for the big service on my 2007 GT3. To date the book is full of main dealer / OPC stamps...

I'm wondering if there is any real value in maintaining a full OPC stamped service book or go to somewhere like JZM (who are very highly regarded in their own right) to get the same work done only a fair few hundred £'s cheaper. I'm completely happy to use JZM (or similar) just thinking about how a prospective purchaser might view it (knowing how Porsche types can be smile)?

Question - would after 7 years of the cars life full of OPC stamps now reverting to a very reputable specialist make you view the car differently to a fully OPC stamped book (can assume the book is to schedule and the car is mint)?

Thoughts...?

depends if you want to take out the Porsche warranty, it will be the last year you can do so.

if not then go indy imo.

Personally it would not bother me too much.. JZM and Parr have good if not better reputation than some if not most of the OPCs... and some of them actually race cars and might really know their GT3s.. especially the "older" ones.. I just think that OPCs have this "follow the rules by the book" attitude which can be frustrating with problems that are ... not in the book.

And I even think that servicing at OPCs is not even a requirement for the exteneded warranty ? But I might be corrected on this one.

Having used and experienced both, I would personally see a car maintained with service history from a leading GT-Car specialist as a positive, not a negative.

^ This.

I'd choose a car with respected indie service history over one with OPC stamps every time.

Ditto, especially somewhere like Fearnsport, the only place I'll take mine to.

Is there much of a price difference?

I'm in exactly the same boat, let warranty expire and require a service soon..

Totally understand the point on Independents and indeed have mine under a Hartech maintenance plan as respect and prefer the service it gets at an independent over an OPC.

However there are a lot of people out there who would only consider OPC - I am afraid we are likely to be in the minority of Porsche owners...

Price difference for the big GT3 + brake fluid is about £300 +/-

In the same boat and thought - it's only ever four years so the saving over the years is nominal. Problem is up here in Scotland, the specialists aren't as recognised as the known big players down south, I'd perhaps be a little more inclined to use an Indy if a well known one was closer by. Until then it's OPC for me. Suppose running a warranty wouldn't leave me any other option!

The more important question is wether you just want an OPC stamp in the book or wether you want someone you know/trust look over the car.

Up here in Scotland Stevie I'll use SP Autobahn (StuP on here).

Mike, I keep meaning to go out and see the guys at SP. I've met Staurt at KH once before. Seemed like a good guy. For now though, I really can't see by the 1200/yr warr which means it's OPC till it's 10. Only 3 more years to go before I'm out in the wide open lol
