Apologies upfront for another wheel/spacers thread but looking at other threads I can't find my answer.

My question is simple...

Has anyone fitted wheel spacers on to their cars with standard Imola wheels and what is the largest sized spacer you can fit without coming out from the arch?

I have standard wheels 15" front, 16" rear and want to widen the track.

Secondly, where can I buy these spacers? Lots of websites out there - but any recommendations welcome.

cheers
Mark

I fitted a set of 6mm spacers on my Chim .They didn't really make a lot of difference look wise to the car.I took the car into a TVR specialist to have some work done and when the mechanic saw the spacers he looked at me as if I was a murderer. NOT on these cars mate, he said. Something to do with the length of stud thread being reduced.smile

Cheers seeby.

So the better option is after market wheels that increase track (over standard) without impacting on stud length. AND also a wheel that gives me more rubber on the road at the contact point.

Or change the studs for longer, and use a 10mm spacer.

I was advised not to put spacers on the front as it would bugger up the geo, or some other important factor that would negatively affect the steering...

I've fitted 12mm hubcentric spacers to mine (to gain clearance for bigger brakes) absolutely no issue with them, the wheels fill the arches nicely and handling seems unaffected with no tram lining etc.
I replaced the studs with longer ones to compensate.

Iirc JJC Rally was the supplier

Although I haven't yet fitted my 5mm spacers to the front (to compensate for upping to 16" imolas) I believe it's ok to go to 5-6mm without compromising stud / nut safety.

Just realised I'm in danger of starting some double entendres, look out Chilli'll be along in a minute !!!

Correct. 5mm ok, 7mm need longer studs.

Ps, if you want to use more than 10mm spacers, apart from longer studs (you must have at least six turns of the wheel nut) you will need hub centric spacers.
