I heard this on the radio the other day - took me instantly and very unexpectedly to my young childhood. I even pulled over to listen to whilst grinning. Texted my brother living overseas and we both purchased it the next day He phoned me for a chat today, nice memories.

The Hot august Night Live Neil Diamond Album used to get a lot of airplay on our 8 track. As did the shadows, elvis and Glen Campbell.. It is only now that I appreciate how good some of the somes are.

Billy Joel's Uptown Girl and Frankie by Sister Sledge are the earliest songs I can remember. The latter gives me a nice warm feeling every time I hear it and instantly sends me back to my childhood as I remember dancing to that tune.

Miami Vice Theme and 19 by Paul Hardcastle were my introduction to electronic music. From then onwards was I had an interest in music that came from machines.

ABBA - Waterloo. My first memory of Christmas. My sister got the album as a gift and I remember enjoying listening to it.
Dr Hook - When you're in love with a beautiful woman. Reminds me of being given tomato sauce on toast for brekkie whilst getting ready for school.
Barbra Streisand - Woman In Love. Reminds me of mum and dad having dinner parties and me being repeatedly told to go to bed.
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams. Reminds me of making a Heinkel HE177 Airfix model.

I'm feeling old now. The two songs that define my childhood (as opposed to adolescence) were "Show me the way to go home" and "The Gendarmes Duet". Mum and Dad used to sing them to us kids as we were driving home.

Other notable turntable favourites in the house would've been Super Trooper by ABBA, Billy Joel, Flash Gordon soundtrack (diiiiiiiivvveee !!!!!) & the Westside Story soundtrack. How did I ever survive this??

Breakfast In America by Supertramp earned my Mum a few points back I guess as did stuff by The Cars.
