Has anyone heard of this problem?---driving 25 miles on m25 around65-75 on light throttle, stop at slip road junction, pull away on half throttle and 100 yards later engine dies and car rolls to a halt. screen says ENGINE MANAGEMENT FAULT in red with red triangle. switch off and then try to restart and it does, but in limp home mode, then clears with no more message.go to jag agent and they say all ok now so see what happens. all ok for 100 miles but it has just happened again. any ideas please? car is 2010 XF 3.0 diesel. I had a 2008 2.7d that was plagued with problems and that was one of them where it would just randomly do that but there wouldn't actually be anything wrong and the dealer would just reset it.

Difficult one. I guess no warranty left? You may want to wave the Sale of Goods act card at a dealer.

Other than that, you may want to join the masses on http://www.jaginfo.org/forum.php where you may get some more sense.

Mine did something similar the other day....pulled into the drive-through, stopped, and it cut out with the red triangle on the dash. Re-started and the idle was all over the place. Not done it since though.

Not much help, was I?!

My April 2010 3.0 S Diesel had a spate of this. The French dealer said it was a turbo fault but as I was about to leave for the UK anyway I took it into Sturgess in Leicester and got them to look at it. Sturgess said there was nothing hard and fast that tied the problem to the turbo but they did find a cracked seal on the DPF which they fixed and since then I haven't had a problem. I know that early XFs had a problem with the turbo actuator but I imagine all those that had the problem will have had it fixed by now.
