What is a 1993 4.3 Chimaera worth, bog standard. Red exterior and cream/red interior.

The only problems it has is a leak for rain to get in to the foot well..

Needs a new camshaft as its lacking power, well...it still pulls like a train and beats 1.8t audi's smile !!

It has 71k miles.

FUll service history, recently serviced, years tax and 6 months mot...

what can I sell this for?

Much appreciated

Chris

they seem to go for around what you paid for it to be honest, unless your into your tvr's most people wouldn't know that a 4.3 is a rare model, that's something you would have to stress in your advert if you do decide to sell, has it been confirmed the cam is worn?

no no confirmation but it doesn't sound as good as other rv8's after 3500 rpm for instance. It has a tick somewhere, it doesn't sound 'solid'

Okay appreciate that, so might be worth keeping it, spending money on it, and then later on after me and the girl have had some bonding time we'll see

Why not spend the money on the car and get it right up to scratch, then have your fun with it and have a chance to bond; and then when you come to sell you might even make some money.

If you ask nicely you might even find some local ph'ers who could help you change the cam if you have not done one before, then it will only cost a couple of hundred quid smile

If not, I will give you £3000 for it hehe

personally I would get it checked out properly for the cam, maybe get the cam done & use it for a few months & see if you get on with the car, 4.3's when running right are a belter of an engine. the car will be worth more running right & if you say its original with service history should hold its money, if it is the cam needing to be done & you sell as is don't be suprised at some silly offers.

Keep it. One of possibly 84 cars remaining. Rarity value alone is worth sorting out the problems. Camshft replacement is not difficult.

Currently it's the later model, low mileage 500s making the bigger money in general, but in time the even rarer older cars should eventually catch up.
How long you have to wait for that to happen is the big question.
If you want to 'trade' on it's age and rarity, you are likely best advised to keep it as original as possible.

The 430 is widely tipped to be the model to soon ramp up in value. Sort the cam and keep it!

Yeah I am, but i'm not mechanically minded, im still a baby and getting near to the end of my bankaccount. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I want to fix it up but I just haven't got the time or money, I drive it every day and it runs fine, was only till it went on a rolling road that i wanted to get the engine running back up to 240+ figures

Well, mines a 93 and I removed body, stripped chassis and replaced everything, replaced outriggers, top-end engine rebuild, rebuilt suspension, front respray and so on. 100,000 on the clock so i guess its worth maybe 7K if I'm lucky!

Are cat c and d actually selling for that? I've got £5k and I'm not spending it on cat c or d.

A good early 4ltr went through ebay recently and was sold at £5k.

Sorry, not meaning to talk down the value of your car, as I said in my email, if you wish to sell you need to exercise a little caution when starting threads on the internet about issues your car might have.

I'm far to dim to get the meaning of smilies, but I think you're agreeing, which I find very agreeable.
