Softie!!
Saying that I have that wheel and the seats to match and I love the feel and grip it gives you.
What I can't understand is the rarity of this the majority being std leather seats and wheel .
For me this is a major extra.
I am looking for a set of the light weight seats to match..... & your right, the feel is amazing...Saying that I have that wheel and the seats to match and I love the feel and grip it gives you.

I had the same thinking this week and this morning I picked the car up from Lancaster Reading, I got those guys to do it as they did me a reasonable deal to supply and fit!
I don't mind giving most jobs a go but the thought of the Air Bag "Deploying" in my face did concern me and as I also remember a friend breaking his nose when we 'had a go' at removing the steering wheel on his Metro many, many years ago I will admit to be scared!

The steering wheel felt great on the drive back home to Poole, and yes like most of you I went the longest way I could...
I have ask the question in the past about why they are not fitted as standard or pushed as a valuable option and basically I was told that depending on your hand heat/sweat levels the look and feel (it starts to go shiny and slippery) of the Alcantara is impossible to be calculated especially on any convertible, I guess it makes sense as an apprentice I was banned from using the Slip Gauges as everything I touched turned to rust...
Anyway whilst they had the car I somehow managed to convince myself that I really, really need to have the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Power Upgrade fitted...
Work in Progress - The guys saved lots of photos on a USB Stick during the process for me.

The competed job:

I had the car Dyno'ed before having the Power Upgrade Kit fitted, so next I am going to get the car Re-Dyno'ed, then I am have a pair of RSF 200-Cell Exhaust Cats fitted and again Re-Dyno and when done I will create a new thread about each stage and the BHP/NM Per £ Man Maths...

Is that an aftermarket wheel then if its not an aston martin optional extra? Or is it from a different model?I don't mind giving most jobs a go but the thought of the Air Bag "Deploying" in my face did concern me and as I also remember a friend breaking his nose when we 'had a go' at removing the steering wheel on his Metro many, many years ago I will admit to be scared!

Steering wheel topic I started here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=120...
I used Royal Steering Wheels: http://royalsteeringwheels.com/
Mine was done with nappa but Jack also does suede. Extremely pleased with the result, there are loads of very positive reviews on BMW m3cutters website. and I have put 35k miles on my padded out nappa wheel since the change and it is as new. Jack can also use whatever thread colour you want. Cost for me was ~£130 (excl P&P) as I wanted extra padding.
long time lurker on here!

The wheel looks great. May I ask what it cost?I too really like the new wheel but I would say it will show wear significantly faster than a leather bound wheel. This will not hopefully be an issue with a low mileage use car, but I suspect Aston Martin would need to cover their arse with warranty claims for wear if they offered it in large numbers, hence the rarity.

It was £610-00 including delivery....... A bit of a chunk of cash but worth it in my eyes.... Like I said, I would like the seats to compliment it as well, ether that or I will be fitting some aftermarket light weight seats...
Mine aren't lightweight seats but they half and half to match my wheel.V8 Animal said:

The wheel looks great. May I ask what it cost?I loved the Alcantara inserts on the seats in my DBS.
They still looked new when I sold the car when it was c5 years old.

I have been after some lightweight seats for my Vantage as the standard seats are so un comfortable.
The only ones I have seen have been silly money, I had Cobra Misano’s fitted in my 911and they were superb unfortunately they are too wide for the Aston and the sills are too deep for the back hand wheel adjuster.
So Cobra are currently designing a custom light weight Carbon seat suitable for my Vantage it will be trimmed to match my car which is Iron Ore and Alcantara.
I will keep you posted and post pictures as soon as they are available, unfortunately great products take time!!
