I am running on windows ME using Norton AV 2000, which gets updated. I have heard that the Norton AV isn't the best, and was thinking of downloading the free version of AVG (Grisoft).

Can I have both on the PC?

Any comments would be welcome.

Thx

I also have the free version of Zonealarm.

AVG is fine. Don't know if you can run both together, though (and why would you want to?)

Double protection. I dont know.

One thing I cant understand, is how can the AVG be better if its free.

Off out now, be back later

Don't know which is "better" technically.

For me, AVG is "better" precisely because its free! I keep it up to date on my home PC (which is on cable broadband) and AFAIK haven't contracted any viruses. Also run ZA (free) & occasionally scan with Ad-aware.

AVG seems to be fine for me, trapping e_mail viruses on a fairly regular basis. (Version 7 (free) is just out and version 6 support soon to be dropped.)

I was just about to say that version 6 is a dog now, I thought it was the only free one so would use it exclusively, but recently I've found AntiVir. Updated daily (although the downloads are relatively large).

I haven't used version 7 of Grisofts stuff....

I've just downloaded version 7 and done a scan. Found 12 Trojans that the Norton missed.

I am now running both (until the Norton expires, in which case I will not renew, and just have the AVG). However, I have had to 'switch off' the email scanner, as it won't let me email.

Anyone know why. I've tried disabling the Norton, but no luck. Comments would be greatly appreciated.

Odd. Works fine for me in conjunction with Outlook (not OE)

Noticed the email scanner works when I turn off Zone alarm. Can anyone help please.
