What car/estate?

After a bit of help...
I'm in Australia. My sister lives in the UK. She's pregnant and her and my BiL need a car.
They've been living in Fulham for the past 2 years and haven't owned a car in that time. They are now moving out to St Albans for the usual kid type reasons.
So they came to me for advice.
She's a practice manager for an architect firm, he's a banker so image is relatively important. They don't want to go any older than 2010. Because they are Australian as well they are amazed at cheap European car prices, so don't want Japanese.
They are not car people - before they left he had an auto 1.8t Saab Convertible and she had a e36 BMW 318i.
So, budget of up to 14k and want an auto with room for baby paraphernalia and assorted house stuff. Will only do around 10,000PA so have already steered them away from a diesel.
My short list is currently
Skoda Octavia hatch/wagon (my pick)
Audi A4 wagon of some type (their pick)
BMW 320i wagon (their pick)
Any obvious choices I'm missing out on? I don't really look at the up to 3 year old family car section of autotrader so any advice would be appreciated.

Space in a 159 certainly isn't great, but no worse than a 3 series touring. Nothing like as much as in an Octavia though. If I can fit all of my kids tat into a 159 saloon (including the obligatory massive four wheel drive pram thing), then a sportwagon should be fine.Most stunning wagon around.

Seat Exeo ST? Petrol and diesel multitronic CVT autos in budget (petrols appear to be very rare though), basically an update B7 A4 and both fairly smart and discrete. A well-specced 2012 2.0 TDI 140 will be under £14k by a fair margin. There's a 2010 2.0 TSI 211 in Newport for less than £8k too.

When they share platforms, it seems nonsensical but won't the Octavia be the one most like a wagon? Aren't the A4 and 3 Series more lifestyle estates than proper estates?

SEAT Exeo, they'll get a 6-9mth top of the range (leather, nav, xenons, BOSE) example in their budget range.
I have one and love it. Mine was £15.5k for a Sport Tech, 3.400 miles, 8 months old, 2 year service package, 2 yrs & 4 mth warranty remaining. Equivlanet Audi B8 A4 age, spec and milage would set me back £28k.
It's a B7 Audi A4, but SEAT hvae changed 25% of the parts.
