Buyers beware 06 plate Audi A6!

Not sure if this is allowed but thought it may save people the hassle I went through yesterday.

Went to go and see this car yesterday after speaking to the owner (or so I thought it was)

When I got to his house, he wasn't there but the car was. The car was on a main road, unlocked and had all windows open slightly..
He turned up after a few minutes and it all came out, none of this was mentioned on the phone..
6 previous owners (didn't show up on the hpi for some reason) he told me he thinks it has 2.
Whole rear of the car had been repaired badly
No tax (I knew this)
Turns out he is a 'trader' but this is not a trade sale as he's selling it for his mate
His mate had to leave the country quickly with his family so asked him to sell it for him.
He didn't has any service history as his 'mate' had it with him.
He did however have 2 V5s for it.
Instantly told me I can knock a bit of money off without even doing/saying anything.

All of the above was not mentioned which meant I wasted 3 hours yesterday for a car that was promised to be a great car with no issues.

So if anybody is looking for one of these, please don't bother with this one. He needs locking up the dodgy fker.

Luckily I bought one yesterday but had to get from slough to rugby in an hour and a half which was bad enough haha.

Probably unfair but any "selling on behalf.." is a straightforward No from me - sadly as you said, that isn't mentioned on the AD.

I am also wary of the "Phone for full details" as it makes me think there is a reason why the seller doesn't want to put anything in writing.

Capital letters are usually the sign of an idiot at the other end of the phone. I can see why you went to look, though - it does look nice in the photos.

HPI shows 7 owners (current since 2011) and a possible mileage discrepancy.

If it has been repaired badly, it probably leaks like a bas**rd and would be wet inside with all this rain recently. That might explain the open windows - to get rid of the condensation.

The rear window had a bit of condensation so assume there is water inside somewhere.

To be honest I probably could have avoided it if I wasn't so desperate for a car but everything seemed fine so thought I'd give it a go.
Ah well, aslong as it saves other people hassle then it isn't too bad.
