997 Turbo remapped back to std
Discussion
If I were to buy a modified Turbo (600+bhp), how easy is it to remap back to standard ?
I've currently got a M3 V8 which I find has plenty of power at 420bhp and I'm guessing 480odd on a 997 turbo is going to enough for the road. So a 997turbo with a few mods like exhaust/cats/intercooler,etc, can that be put back to a normal 480bhp on just a remap ?
The main reason for going back would be clutch wear, less risk of mechanical issues, tyre wear, mpg and should be more driveable ?
Thanks

Hi Andrew..
Just on another note...I had a 997 Turbo for nearly 4 yrs which I cherished. I sold it to an OPC that then told me my DME had been chipped. Now I auditioned 2 other turbos when I bought mine and it felt no different plus the car was 111 point checked by an OPC. In this instance I felt sorry for the dealer as he took me at my word that I never knew anything about it which I didn't and it also must register permanantly on the ECU otherwise they would of switched it back to standard and they were told by Germany that they were not allowed to put a warranty on it. My point is get all this stuff checked thoroughly as if there are any probs down the road with the engine Porsche will walk away from it.Small joke really...my car had matt finish stoneguards which IMO not only looked a bit better but did the job better too and everytime my car was in for service they would happily tell me that they were 'not original items' but left out that my car had been remapped!!

Its this one with Parr....

It ticks a lot of boxes, fast road/occasional track, low seats good for me as a tall driver, fun 3rd car, bit different. I prefer the gen2 turbo but there's still a big chunk of depreciation to happen on those.

Because of the modified VTGs you cannot map it back to standard. Leave it as it is or look for another car.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
