Just wanted to say hello to the Merc forum. I just placed a deposit on a new C63AMG. I went to the dealer in Norwich to look at a 2008 SL63 and instantly disliked it, but was stunned by the estate C63. I have gone with Silver with black 19in wheels, and the only options are DAB and reversing camera, managed to get about £10k off list price.
It should be arriving on Saturday, and until then I am keeping myself amused with the AMG soundroom app. I don't know how people deal with waiting for a factory order.

I've also been told that running in is 1500km under 4500rpm, thats got to be the most frustrating thing ever!!!
Photos to follow next week.

Congratulations! The AMG sound room app is extremely realistic, so should give you a good flavour of what to expect.

As for running-in...I wouldn't limit yourself too much. I ran mine in fairly hard. At 3500 miles I had my C63 dyno'd against another with 20k miles on it. Mine made more power...

Look forward to the pics thumbup

Do they all need a run in service or just the ones with an LSD?

I could take the scenic route home from the dealership, via Aberdeen wink

Congrats!

Ive got an 08 c63 and its a great car

as for being limited to 4500 revs, I rarely get the opportunity to take it over 5000rpm and believe me its plenty quick enough!

fair point, the only one I have ever driven was ages ago and was only around town on a test drive. All I did was leave it in first and second the whole way to make as much noise as possible.

Congrats!

RE: Running in service - nothing was mentioned to me when I picked her up a few weeks ago... Dealer just said they'd see us in 12 months for the 1st service!

And they said, whilst peeling the "take it easy" warning sticker off the windscreen, that all the engines have been run in at the factory and just to enjoy it!

Would you expect to see a run-in service indicator appear on the on board computer?

Its not really for the engine though. The run in service is an oil change to upgrade the diff oil and box oil and then a software update. The oil changes are to flush any harmful metal residues / swarf from the mechanisms. The engines are pre-run in i agree.

Do what the manual advises. Everything else is just opinion. Don't forget it needs 98RON fuel too.

Did you go for the service pack, it does work out a lot cheaper for you to do this on a new C63.
I went for the option it is only £40 pounds a month.

Just to add my tuppence worth...I visited Affalterbach in September and had the guided tour of the factory and, in particular, the engine build facility. One of the points made was that 95% of the engines are COLD tested i.e. mechanically turned over but with no fuel and then put into the (fairly impressive) storage racks. Only a small number are actually hot tested.

I'm not wanting to sound a smart arse and I may be wrong but that was the brief from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Needless to say, I had already observed the run in period..

Agree with the above but its my belief that the cars are driven hard on a track prior to being retested and distributed.

The tuning options are massive for a C63.
Simple Re-map (Eurocharged)= 525BHP
Long tube headers plus Re-map = 550BHP
Weistec Stage 1 Supercharger= 640BHP

The cars are fantastic standard but I can certainly state that the Weistec Stage 1 makes it an absolute beast!!!

As promised, here are some pictures. So far its awesome, I knew the sound was good, but it just doesn't get boring. The quality of the interior is far higher than I expected and its loaded full of toys.
