While I expect some flack on posting this, this is PH after all, I am interested to see where others would draw the line on this?

Some background, I bought my car (used) just over a year ago and as part of the deal it was agreed that I could chose to have some trim redone within the first year.

Wind on a year, I decide to get this done at the same time the car goes in for its MOT and a couple of other bits, I decide to get the work done. The part to be retrimmed is swapped out so it can be sent off, and a replacement item fitted for the period while it is away.

So I get a call before the weekend to say the part is back, and arrange to go back to get the retrimmed part swapped over at the weekend. Within a couple of days the sales guy I dealt with phones, leaving a voicemail offering to send out a technician do the swap over for my convenience - not a bad offer I think, that is until I speak to him. On speaking to him, it turns out the proposed date is not suitable for me, and I offer alternatives later in the week and it is only then it turns out the loan part was borrowed from another car, which has just been sold and is due to be collected. I agree an option for the swap over to be done first thing on a weekday at home, but now it turns out the salesman got the wrong end of the stick and it has to be done in the workshop.

As there has been some good will on the part of the dealer, I was initially happy enough to work with them on this, but the more I think about things I can't help thinking that being put in this position is taking the p*ss, and while I remained diplomatic today I did voice that I was not overly happy being put in this position. Now, I'm tempted to dig my heels in if there are any further changes, and stick to the original arrangement - after all it's not my fault they chose to borrow a part from another car and IMHO any good will has been exhausted by this, and I should not be inconvenienced over this..

And I thought it was only f**king Audi dealers who could take the p*ss, but I'd be interested to hear any thoughts..and I promise a full on rant if this gets any more ridiculous..

He's made a mistake fair enough. Logical step would be to ask him to pick it up and leave you with a motor to save the hassle for you? Maybe replace the fuel if it's a bit of a journey

To be fair, something along those line has been offered, but fitting it in has been a bit of a ballache. More of a hassle to have a courtesy car for one day..

Will do better with a full rant - good will has been exhausted but there's still some diplomacy left smile

You can either have a dealer pissed off with you, or one which owes you a favour. If you can accommodate his request, just do it with good grace.

That's the way I'm leaning TBH, while making sure they understand I've done my best to accommodate this..

Honestly. Just accept they will do it and build a bridge and get the fk over it! rolleyes What do you expect them to do? Pave your drive with fivers? Give you lifetime servicing for free? It's clearly a used car so there will be minor faults. They've honoured their end of the bargain. YOU are the one claiming you're inconvenienced unduly. And I would suggest you aren't really. Wow, you are without a car for maybe a day. Or you have to get up early one day and WAIT a couple hours whilst they refit a trim. Unless you're job is VERY VERY VERY important I reckon your employer can spare you for a few hours to sort this.

Clearly it wasn't that much of an issue if you were prepared to wait A YEAR to have the trim redone/swaped/whatever

Really?. Have the mechanic that was going to do the job at your location bring you a courtesy car and when you are able, take the loaner back and collect your repaired car.

The PH response I was expecting, but the other side of the coin I'd considered, hence the original question smile

What's the phrase, yep "first-world problem" as the retrim was a nice to have which it was why it was negotiated as part of the original deal, and done to get the part in A1 condition.

I asked the question expecting some flack, nothing to do with the part itself, being without the car for a day, etc. - more the fact being told I'd cost them a sale, to keep a new customer happy..not bothered about any courtesy car or any hassle TBH.

You learn something new everyday.so you bought a car a year ago and accepted it but on the proviso that some trim could be swapped within a year?
Sounds like an oddball deal to me.id want the car right before taking delivery so why you had this "within a year" deal is beyond me and even moreso this talk of "swapping out" (a relatively new phrase i detest) for a replacement whilst yours is sorted-whats THAT all about!?

The "deal" itself is not the problem, it suited at the time and no issue with it. The part in question is subject to wear and tear, and the condition was perfectly acceptable when it had been prepared for collection - the offer was made prior to that, and rather than let the offer go only to pay later, it seemed sensible to hold them to the offer.

I'm amazed the dealer has given themselves and you a year timespan to rectify the problem within; I want any issue with a car that has gone out to be rectifed ASAP; two weeks tops, as do accounts.
