Hi,

you may have seen the news, where the Marine Cafe was pounded by waves and rocks, smashing all the windows. Well, the beach huts came off a little worse! Many were completely destroyed. The beach is covered in nets, ropes, wood, beach chairs and other rubbish. Lots of beach clearing sessions are being organised for this week.

I went down on Sunday to take a few photos, http://www.flickr.com/photos/danyeates/sets/721576...

Quite amazing what the sea can do really, there's virtually no beach left!

Very descriptive pictures and staggering how the power of the water can move huge boulders.

smile thanks.

I was very lucky with the weather and the lighting.

Ps. That photo set has had over 10,000 views this evening! Wow!

Nice pics. Milford faces SW so probably got hit very hard, but it was a similar story all the way along - Avon Beach, Christchurch and Southbourne, Bournemouth there were loads of beach huts damaged or detroyed.

Beach hut 197 was owned by a family friend, I spent many happy days and nights down there as a kid. Gutted to see what's happened to it!
