Posted another thread about it and spoken with someone who has already seen it but would appreciate any input..
Neil,
By no means an expert, but on a car at that price, I'd be paying very close attention to all aspects.
Look for black smoke out of exhaust on heavy acceleration (potential valve/guide wear). Most of these cars will produce a slightly "wet" condensate when cold so don't worry about that - I mean black smoke (i.e. oil).
Look for crunching into gear, and especially difficulty releasing out of gear, i.e. stuck in gate (potentially brake fluid needing bleeding all the way up to leaking slave or full clutch replacement (around £1k for parts and fitting at a specialist).
Look for imbalance in exhaust emissions, i.e. one bank better/worse than other (cats or imbalance in engine running between the banks).
If its been stored outside, look for evidence of water ingress in footwells, near door cards, in the area to front of wing mirror control on drivers side (seals can be poor on Tuscans / Fibreglass cars). Looks like there is mould in there. Quote for new carpets only ~£400 - £600.
You'll definitely need to get under the car and inspect the chassis (outrigger areas) - although the "T" cars are supposed to have better protected chassis than the earlier cars (pre 1998 I think). Full chassis refurb anywhere between £3k and £6k
Under hard acceleration feel for a "jolt" at between 3k and 3.5k revs (possible evidence of replacement lamba sensors - about £90 each)
Wandering revs - potentially throttle pot imbalance (can set these up yourself if handy with spanners or ~£120 for specialist. More if bushes need replacing).
Look at paint on the bonnet around the windscreen wiper area and the nice "curve" near windscreen, if cracked and crazed, possible evidence of hot under bonnet temperatures.
Stone chips on lower bonnet - common issue on TVRs irrespective of how well cared for.
Seatbacks appear to be coming away on drivers side. I'd be asking why? Have the two allen bolts come loose or has the seat been messed around with?
These cars look great and sound great! Just take your time to inspect the car fully - could be a bargain!

A massive thanks Daggs, went to see Steve (twice in fact!) today and he really is a genuinely nice, down to earth chap. Had a good chat and cuppa.. and he advised me on the car i was looking at all open and honestly.
So I cant thank you enough for the heads up with him, i did turn up unannounced but he was brilliant, happy to take some time out to help.. and he will put some feelers out for me on a Tuscan S
Didnt buy the one i was looking at after, chassis was corroded in areas and had a couple holes etc so decided to wait for another to come up..
Glad YOU made the right decision for YOU.
There are some P/H people who diss the TVRCC, some who have had 'personal experiences' and some who are members. I think that you make your own mind up and take your chance.
The Tees Valley Region is a relatively new TVRCC Region (instigated and formed with the enthusiastic help of TVR BOB). We have tried to build up a group of TVR enthusiasts who share their passion with their partners, so widening the TVR experience and appeal. We look forward too and enjoy TVR events with neighbouring regions as well as attending national events, all of which adds to the TVR community.
Glad to have been of some assistance.
Contact the TVRCC and introduce yourself to your local R.O. .... there may be a 'seller' local to you.
Keep us informed of any future TVR developments. You will love being a member of the world of silly, happy grins that TVR ownership brings.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH !
