Has any one had one?

My 19 year old sister is looking to buy a brand new one. I have spent the last several days taking her around every car dealer in the midlands (or so it feels), and looked at what every make of small hatch back known to man.

We went out in the Polo on Sunday and she is pretty sure its the one.

One thing I am curious about is the mpg? On the internet it states 54. I happened to look at the trip and it was 35? It was one of the sales girls company car so I assumed its used 'properly' and the figure was not from being moved around the fore court all day?

Cracking little car I may add, with the R design kit.

Got one in the family low 40's real world if you shift as per the dash gear indicator still pretty decent for 100hp motor but not spectacular. Mid 30's are quite realistic if you drive in lower gears than optimum.

There is £1000 deposit contribution available if going for PCP finance the dealers can lock this onto factory build orders if you ask not just "stock". Free insurance for registrations this month but over 21 or 25 only so not applicable.

The 1.4 140 (bluegt) will deliver better real world economy due to cylinder on demand and stop/start but the higher purchase cost won't recover the difference unless big annual mileage is involved.

You'll get 40 -45 depending on the weight of your foot

Friend has one as a first car, the R Line, you'd be better off buying a dealer demo BlueGT for about the same price to be honest

Tried that engine in a couple of cars, its a really nice unit. Feels very responsive and nippy compared to the diesels and will return a real world 45 - 50mpg on a long run. Surprisingly relaxed at high speed too. Its significantly better than the ancient 1.4 N/A they also offer with the Polo.

if she's thinking of a new factory order, forget it
Vw have currently stopped taking orders for polos (we already tried to order a blue gt) due to the new face lift model being due out soon and needing to change the production lines to suit

she may be able to get one that is currently in stock or in the process of being built, but this will obviously reduce her to whats available and restrict the options/ colour etc
or she could wait for the new model, but would be unlikely to get anything like the discounts currently available

My o\h has the same engine in a Ibiza, it's really snappy and feels great, he averages 47mpg over a 13 or so mile mixed commute. It's really nice.

The new polo is due out, very nice facelift, I would be ordering one of those with LED headlights.


Did you try the fabia too? They do some nice editions ones
