Mrs T and I are driving down to Munich and then into the alps for a few days in mid March. do we take the Aston or the RR? Anyone know what the weather is liable to be like and what road conditions we can expect?

)not that hard really, do you want to enjoy the trip or enjoy the driving.
for me the rangie would provide the most comfortable journey and all round holiday type experience as i doubt it gets much better with space, comfort, safety, reliability (MMMM......)and duty free, shoes, handbags, happy her indoors.
the aston will give you a far more enhanced experience but for only SOME of the time.
when you pull up anywhere, any tunnels, toll booth pull aways, i wont add the rest as we all know it but it can be weather permitting by a long mile.
if the weather is total crap you just sit in them worrying, its no fun.
duration might be key.

I am doing the Alps in June and still expect some snow to be around
A LOT of the passes don't open until the end of MayI'll try and dig out the web site I use for pass status
HI Simon,
I have a house in the Alps and regularly drive to and from the UK (as it happens I came back by car yesterday) . The weather in March is very changeable. The past week we have had everything from snow to +17 degrees. Wintertyres are a must if you drive the Aston during this period in the Alps as nights are cold and the roads are slippery. You might be lucky to escape the snow but if it comes you are stuck with summer tyres and rear wheel drive. If you don't intend to put winter tyres on your Aston then you should take the RR. A bit on advice on the route: If you go through Belgium and into Germany in Aachen then don't go all the way to Stuttgart and then across to Munich. The Autobahn between Stuttgart and Munich is currently being expanded and is a 100 km building site. Go a bit further north over Cologne- Frankfurt - Nürnberg and then Munich. Drive safely!
