The Big 40, thinking about hiring something nice

I'm going to be hitting the big 40 in a few months and one of the things I'd like to do is hire something nice for the weekend and book a hotel. Does anyone have any recommendations of classic or italian car hire for a reasonable amount?

3 day weekend with a top budget of £1500 what would you hire?

I can't afford to maintain a Ferrari and I don't have the knowledge or garage space to maintain a nice classic, so this will be a little treat.

I got a too good to be true deal on wowcher a couple of years ago. The hire co is called club gt. At the moment they have last minute deals on quite a lot of their garage. A driving assessment may be required, but I thought of that as a bonus.

Only downside is their F355 is a bit of a nail. It goes, but in a sort of katie price way. Still looks the part (with a bit of effort), still performs, but a bit worn round the edges and every man and his dog have been in it.

Cost about £1000 all in, hire, fuel, excess miles, hotels, entertainment etc.

You can hire my Seicento (its a 'Sporting' you know) for 3 weeks for £1500.

You'll have to sort your own insurance. and fuel.

At last a reply that actually works. Cheers I'll give them a look. The F355 is a fab car, pity this one's a bit worn out but worth thinking about. If not, I'll hire Katie Price instead.

Have a look on Avis Prestige, got a Jag XKR cabrio for 2 days for £357.

Nice hotel in the Lakes, job done.

Plenty of change for hookers!

Avis also do it abroad, why not get a flight to say Italy, hire a nice convertible and then have a drive round Tuscany or Lake Garda for a few days?

How about hiring a classic car in France? Not as quick as some cars that you could hire elsewhere, but I'd rather be driving a Citroen DS in Provence than ragging a tired old 355 around in the UK.

A couple of options are Logis du Paradis or Great Escape Cars (no connection etc).
