Favourite Fast Estates

I remember both the E34 M5 and RS2 being launched in the 90's and always thought that the concept of a high performance motor sport engine in an ordinary estate was slightly unhinged but strangely appealing when compared with other conventional high performance cars.





Anyway what's your favourite and who has made the best......

Albeit not the quickest, but 300bhp, AWD and that pretty clever chassis do make these ever so tempting... The last of the proper Rs from Volvo before it came a trim level...!

I'm quite fond of my Legacy, does pretty much everything well.

Subaru were making turbo Legacies from '89, 100bhp less than the RS2 brought to the party 5 years later but still enough for 0-60 in 6.5 and a quarter mile in the 14s, quite rapid for the time.

They also made a turbo 4wd Leone 'sportwagon' from about '83 from memory, though it was too slow to really count in this discussion!

I love my Saab 9-5 Aero Estate. Its not the fastest, but its faster in a straight line than lots of stuff. And its supremely comfortable as well.
I'm a big fan of the R Volvos too.

Not the fastest or the prettiest, but as something the average man can afford to buy and run that is still practical but also fun, I think these are hard to beat. I really think they look good in the flesh.
