Brought the car to work today for its MOT, and this is the first time it has been on the road in over 3 years. It made it the 27 miles OK, but not without a few issues

-A few squeaks and rattles
-The temp gauge stayed very low, so I think the thermostat maybe stuck open
-With the headlights on I put the heater on, which illuminated the charging light, so I need to test the alternator in case it is on its way out.
-The suspension felt a bit stiff, so i think the shocks may be due a service with GAZ after all

Not too bad for that amount of time though, and she still pulled smooth and strong, and sounded like thunder evil

Those Gaz are sensitive to settings.

Back then off and set them +5 clicks rear and +7 clicks front.

If your journey was dual carriage ways with no traffic, early morning, then the temp may well not get above 65C.

It was pretty much all A1 at 5:30 this morning, so i will give it a chance with some more normal driving before changing anything too drastic. I need to do the coolant soon anyways so might do it at the same time as a peace of mind.

Do you mean 5 and 7 clicks from fully soft? I will give it a go, i am not sure what they are set to at the moment, but they will be what Steve Gugliemi set them to when i had the car setup by him years ago. I will make sure i will mark down what they are set to now before i change them, but as you say the adjusters might need working a bit to get them just right smile

Take a note of where the settings are now and then try my suggested settings from soft.

Try out on a known section of road and note how it feels.

Adjust firmer or softer by 2 clicks either way and test.

Yes he does. And clockwise is harder, anti-clock is softer.
SG may well have given you a fast driving/track setting.
I agree with Phazed, and run mine on GGPs, at the settings he suggests on the road.
Race tracks are as smooth as a baby's bum, so with no bumps to knock your teeth out, crank the fronts up to 16-20 clicks from soft for a track day.
IMHO, leave the rears soft for the track, or you might find the rear end "hopping" around tight bends

Do you have standard rear camber/ toe in out settings Anthony,
The way I'm going ill be putting a thread up like this!
See I drove mine from day one every day for over 18 months.
I haven't driven it since November and the anticipation has returned!
Glad to hear your getting back on the road,

Yes, Alun, I have the TVR standard set up at the rear, but an extra degree of camber at the front, as my tyre temperatures were uneven across the tyres. Handles a lot better like that.
Any one having a geo set-up done would do well to get the car set up to the standard, then take it for a blast on a nice dry day, and then go back to the garage and have the front tyre temps immediately checked, inside, middle and outside. Then adjust the camber based on the results. Tyre temp should be even across the tyre.

I was talking with someone just this morning regarding temp readers.
Those clever gadgets are good for checking all sorts.

This is the one reimported back from Belgium isn't it? Nice one.

You can probably have the original number plate if it hasn't been reissued, depends on DVLA's mood.

When there were local offices I used to get to know the staff (Worcester were actually friendly), but now everything has to go through Swansea, it's a bit "faceless bureaucracy," Shame.
